A Better Camera Head for Existing AHD Equipment
Many heavy machines, marine systems and industrial vehicles already have an AHD monitor or MDVR.
The problem is not always the video system.
The problem may be the camera head installed at the exposed end of that system.
It may operate around water, moisture and contamination. It may be mounted in a dark equipment area. A conventional painted or aluminum camera housing may not be the preferred material for the installation.
AC-616 addresses these requirements with:
SUS304 Stainless Steel Housing
for wet and corrosion-prone equipment environments.
Sony IMX662 STARVIS 2
for improved low-light visibility.
IR Night Vision
for darker operating conditions.
IP68 Camera-Head Protection
for water and dust exposure.
1080P AHD Video
for integration with compatible existing monitors and MDVRs.
Keep Your Existing AHD System. Upgrade the Camera Head.

What Real Problems Does AC-616 Solve?
1. Your Equipment Already Has an AHD Monitor or MDVR
There is no reason to add a USB host or separate IP camera network when the existing equipment already uses AHD video.
AC-616 provides a finished AHD camera head for integration into a compatible existing video system.
2. The Camera Is Installed in a Wet or Corrosion-Prone Location
Heavy equipment, harbor machinery and marine equipment can expose cameras to rain, moisture, spray, dirt and corrosive environmental conditions.
AC-616 uses a SUS304 stainless steel housing with IP68 camera-head protection rather than a conventional plastic or painted enclosure.
SUS304 provides useful corrosion resistance for many applications, although it should not be interpreted as universally corrosion-proof.
3. Operators Still Need Visibility When the Light Drops
Equipment does not stop operating when daylight disappears.
Sony IMX662 STARVIS 2 provides strong low-light imaging capability for poorly illuminated equipment areas and nighttime operation.
4. Very Dark Areas Need More Than a Low-Light Sensor
Low-light sensitivity cannot create light where there is effectively none.
AC-616 therefore combines the IMX662 imaging platform with IR night vision, extending its usefulness into darker equipment environments.
Sony IMX662 STARVIS 2 + IR Night Vision
Better Visibility from Daylight into the Night
AC-616 uses the Sony IMX662 STARVIS 2 image sensor for 1080P imaging with strong low-light performance.
This matters in applications such as:
When available light becomes insufficient, the integrated IR night-vision system provides additional viewing capability.
Low Light and IR Are Different
STARVIS 2 helps the camera make better use of available light.
IR night vision supports viewing when visible illumination becomes much lower.
Together, they provide a more practical day-to-night camera for equipment that operates across changing lighting conditions.
SUS304 Stainless Steel + IP68 Camera Head
More Than a Conventional Painted Camera Housing
The AC-616 camera electronics are enclosed in a SUS304 stainless steel housing.
For customers operating around water, moisture or corrosion-prone equipment, housing material can be as important as image resolution.
SUS304 Stainless Steel
Provides corrosion resistance and a durable metal camera enclosure for many industrial, heavy-equipment and marine-equipment environments.
IP68 Protection
Protects the rated camera assembly against water and dust under its specified IP68 test conditions.
Finished Equipment Camera
AC-616 is supplied as a complete camera head rather than a board-level camera requiring the customer to design its own environmental enclosure.
Important
SUS304 is corrosion-resistant, not corrosion-proof.
The suitability of stainless steel depends on exposure time, salt concentration, chemicals, temperature and maintenance conditions.
IP68 also does not automatically mean IP69K. Applications involving high-pressure or high-temperature washdown require the appropriate separately qualified camera.
Heavy Equipment
Stainless Steel AHD Visibility for Off-Highway Machinery
Heavy equipment often places the camera at one of the most exposed points on the machine.
Rain, mud, moisture, vibration, changing light and nighttime operation can all affect the camera environment.
AC-616 is intended for equipment that already uses an AHD display or recorder but requires a higher-grade stainless steel camera head.
Typical equipment includes:
Rear, Side or Work-Area Visibility
AC-616 should not be limited to the term “backup camera.”
Depending on the machine layout, it can provide:
Rear View
Side View
Work-Area View
Equipment-Area View
The installation position is determined by what the operator actually needs to see.

Marine & Harbor Equipment
Stainless Steel Camera for Wet Equipment and Waterfront Operations
Marine and harbor equipment creates a different camera environment from ordinary road vehicles.
Cameras may operate around high humidity, rain, water spray, salt-containing air, changing weather and nighttime operations.
The combination of SUS304 stainless steel, IP68 protection, Sony IMX662 STARVIS 2 and AHD video makes AC-616 relevant to a range of marine and harbor equipment where a compatible local monitor or MDVR is already installed.
Typical applications include:
Why AHD Makes Sense Here
Many equipment applications need reliable local video between the camera and operator display rather than a separate IP network.
AC-616 can function as the camera head in an existing compatible AHD system.
Camera → AHD Cable → Monitor / MDVR → Operator
This makes it suitable for straightforward local equipment visibility.
SUS304 or SUS316 for Marine Applications?
Not every marine or harbor installation has the same corrosion exposure.
Standard AC-616 uses SUS304 stainless steel, which can be appropriate for many wet industrial, harbor and marine-equipment applications depending on the actual installation environment.
More severe chloride exposure, prolonged direct seawater contact or particularly corrosive environments may justify a higher-grade stainless steel material.
For marine projects where SUS316 stainless steel is specifically required, Goobuy can evaluate a 316 housing version according to the application and order requirements.
This does not mean every marine application requires SUS316.
Material selection should be based on the actual environmental exposure rather than the word “marine” alone.
Wet Industrial & Corrosion-Prone Equipment
AHD Camera for Equipment Where Housing Material Matters
AC-616 is also relevant outside heavy equipment and marine applications.
Industrial machinery may operate around water, humidity, process contamination or other conditions where customers prefer a stainless steel camera housing.
Typical applications include:
In these applications, AC-616 combines a protected stainless steel camera head with local AHD video and low-light capability.
Existing AHD System Integration
Camera Head → Existing Monitor or MDVR
AC-616 is designed for customers who already have—or are building around—a compatible AHD video system.
A typical installation is straightforward:
AC-616 Camera
↓
AHD Cable / Aviation Connector
↓
Compatible AHD Monitor or MDVR
↓
Operator Display / Recording
There is no USB host and no Ethernet network required for the camera itself.
Compatibility Must Be Checked
An aviation-style connector that looks physically identical does not necessarily use the same electrical pinout.
Before replacing an existing camera, check:
AHD video format
Resolution compatibility
Camera supply voltage
Connector type
Connector pin definition
This is particularly important when AC-616 is being considered as a replacement camera for an existing equipment video system.

Important: AC-616 Is Not an Explosion-Proof Camera
A stainless steel camera housing can easily be misunderstood as an explosion-proof enclosure.
It is not.
AC-616 is NOT an explosion-proof camera and is not presented as ATEX-certified, IECEx-certified or intrinsically safe equipment.
SUS304 construction and IP68 ingress protection do not provide explosion protection.
AC-616 must not be specified for classified hazardous locations where the installation requires certified explosion-protected electrical equipment.
This distinction is particularly important for petroleum, chemical, offshore and certain industrial facilities.

Professional FAQ
1. Will AC-616 work with the AHD monitor already installed on our machine?
Possibly, but compatibility should be checked before installation.
The existing system should be verified for AHD format, supported resolution, camera supply voltage, connector type and pin definition.
Two cameras may use visually similar aviation connectors while having different electrical pinouts.
If you are replacing an existing camera, provide the monitor/MDVR model and connector pin definition for comparison.

2. Is AC-616 only a reversing or backup camera?
No.
AC-616 is better understood as an equipment camera head.
Depending on installation position, it can provide rear, side or work-area visibility on heavy equipment, harbor machinery and other compatible equipment.
The viewing position should be selected according to the operator's actual blind area.

3. Why should we choose IMX662 STARVIS 2 instead of a normal 1080P AHD camera?
Resolution alone does not determine image usefulness.
Equipment may operate in shadows, enclosed areas or at night.
The Sony IMX662 STARVIS 2 platform gives AC-616 a stronger low-light capability than selecting a camera solely because it outputs 1080P video.
This is particularly useful for equipment that operates across changing daylight conditions.
________________________________________
4. Can AC-616 see in complete darkness?
The Sony IMX662 sensor is designed for strong low-light imaging, but a sensor still requires light.
AC-616 therefore incorporates IR night vision for darker conditions.
Actual night-viewing performance depends on the target distance, environment and final IR configuration.

5. Why use SUS304 instead of a conventional aluminum camera housing?
Some customers specifically prefer stainless steel for wet, moisture-exposed or corrosion-prone equipment locations.
SUS304 provides useful corrosion resistance and a robust camera enclosure.
However, material selection should always reflect the actual environment. Stainless steel does not mean the camera is immune to every corrosive condition.
________________________________________
6. Is SUS304 suitable for marine and harbor equipment?
It can be suitable for many marine and harbor equipment applications, but there is no single answer for every installation.
A camera exposed mainly to humidity, rain and occasional water spray has a different corrosion environment from a camera subjected to continuous seawater, concentrated chloride deposits or long-term immersion.
The actual exposure should therefore determine the material requirement.
________________________________________
7. Do all marine applications require SUS316?
No.
SUS316 generally provides better resistance in chloride-rich environments, but that does not mean every harbor or marine equipment camera automatically requires 316 stainless steel.
Standard AC-616 uses SUS304.
For projects with more severe saltwater or chloride exposure, or where the equipment specification explicitly requires SUS316, Goobuy can evaluate a SUS316 housing version.
________________________________________
8. Does IP68 mean AC-616 can remain permanently underwater?
Not automatically.
IP68 applies according to specified test conditions.
It should not be interpreted as unlimited-depth or unlimited-duration underwater operation.
A continuously submerged application must be evaluated against the actual depth, duration, sealing design and environmental conditions.
________________________________________
9. Can we pressure-wash AC-616 on heavy equipment?
Do not assume that IP68 provides IP69K performance.
High-pressure and high-temperature washdown involve different test conditions.
If pressure washing is a primary requirement, a camera specifically qualified for that environment—such as an appropriate Goobuy IP69K heavy-equipment camera—should be considered.

10. Is AC-616 an explosion-proof camera because it has a stainless steel housing?
No.
Stainless steel is the housing material; it is not an explosion-protection certification.
AC-616 is not stated as ATEX, IECEx, explosion-proof or intrinsically safe.
It must not be used as a substitute for certified hazardous-area camera equipment.
________________________________________
11. Can AC-616 be installed on oil-service or petroleum-related equipment?
Only where the actual installation is a suitable non-hazardous / unclassified location and the camera specifications meet the environmental requirements.
Oil, gas and petroleum facilities can contain both ordinary and classified hazardous areas.
The equipment owner or system designer must determine the area classification.
If certified explosion protection is required, AC-616 is not the correct camera.
________________________________________
12. Can AC-616 connect directly to a USB or HDMI monitor?
No.
AC-616 is an AHD camera.
It requires a compatible AHD monitor, MDVR or other AHD video receiver.
For equipment built around USB or network video, a different camera platform should be selected.
________________________________________
13. Can AC-616 replace an existing AHD camera without changing the wiring?
Possibly, but the connector alone is not enough to determine compatibility.
The existing camera system should be checked for voltage, video format, resolution and connector pinout.
Providing the existing camera or monitor specification is the safest way to evaluate a replacement.

14. Why choose AC-616 instead of Goobuy AC-606?
The two products solve different priorities.
Choose AC-606 when IP69K washdown resistance and conventional heavy-equipment ruggedness are the primary requirements.
Choose AC-616 when SUS304 stainless steel construction, Sony IMX662 STARVIS 2 low-light imaging and IR night visibility are more important.
For marine or harbor applications where stainless steel material is specifically preferred, AC-616 also provides a more natural starting point.
